Connect Facebook Messenger to NexaDesk for AI-powered customer messaging

Connect your Facebook Page to NexaDesk to manage Messenger conversations with AI-powered responses. All Messenger messages appear in your unified inbox.

Prerequisites

  • A Facebook Page for your business
  • Admin access to the Facebook Page
  • A NexaDesk account on a paid plan

Setup

  1. In NexaDesk, go to Settings > Integrations > Messenger
  2. Click Connect Facebook
  3. Log in to Facebook and authorize NexaDesk
  4. Select the Facebook Page you want to connect
  5. Grant the required permissions (pages_messaging, pages_read_engagement)

After connecting:

  • Default chatbot — Select which chatbot handles Messenger conversations
  • Welcome message — The greeting new visitors see when they open Messenger from your Page
  • Get Started button — Enable the "Get Started" button that initiates the conversation
  • Persistent menu — Add menu items that are always visible in the Messenger interface

  1. Go to your Facebook Page
  2. Click Send Message
  3. Send a test message
  4. Verify it appears in your NexaDesk inbox with a Messenger badge

Supported Message Types

  • Text — Standard text messages
  • Images — Photo attachments
  • Files — Document attachments (PDF, etc.)
  • Quick Replies — Buttons that visitors can tap for predefined responses
  • Templates — Structured messages with cards and buttons (configurable via workflows)

Ice Breakers

Ice breakers are suggested conversation starters shown to new visitors. Configure up to 4 ice breaker questions under Messenger Settings > Ice Breakers.

Example:

  • "What products do you offer?"
  • "How much does it cost?"
  • "Can I talk to a human?"
  • "What are your hours?"

Persistent Menu

Add a persistent menu to the Messenger interface:

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations > Messenger > Persistent Menu
  2. Add up to 3 menu items with labels and actions
  3. Actions can be URLs, postback triggers, or predefined responses

Limitations

  • Facebook requires app review for some advanced Messenger features
  • Message delivery depends on Facebook's API availability
  • Rich templates require Messenger-specific formatting
